My work begins with observation and a strong emotional or conceptual response to place. I work primarily in series, allowing time and repetition to deepen each body of work to build a more layered understanding of the subject. While my projects vary in focus from feminism and domestic life to the environment and climate change, they are connected by a desire to look closely and explore the relationships between people and the places they inhabit. My style is responsive to the subject, quiet and intimate when needed, more structured or documentary when context demands. Across all projects, I am committed to making work that is respectful, reflective and socially engaged. I am interested in the space between visibility and invisibility, what gets noticed and what gets overlooked.
Photography, for me, is a way of paying attention, and sometimes, of asking others to do the same.
